Holiday season at the Zoo!

As the seasons change and families prepare for the holidays, our Zoo hours, rates, member specials, programs, events and experiences are changing, too!

Gift certificateJust a reminder that November 1st through March 31st the gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Visitors may stay on grounds until 4 p.m. Rest assured, our members will enjoy their benefit of entering the Zoo at 9:30 a.m. again next spring. However, their free admission benefit is a terrific savings all year long. Since general admission rates are discounted by $2 each in the off season, it’s a great time of year for members to bring guests. The Membership Booth will be closed during the off season so please visit the Admissions Booth daily and staff will assist you with any purchases, questions or concerns. The Zoo will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (gobble, gobble), Christmas Day (ho, ho, ho) and New Year’s Day (Happy 2014!). On the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29) as well as Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31), we offer ONE free youth admission with ONE paid adult admission. Again, these BOGO specials are one more reason to bring your holiday guests here and show off your Zoo’s adorable babies!

Since the holidays are upon us and many of you may be wondering what to give, we are pleased to offer Membership Gift Certificates at a $10 off discount. They are available for purchase at the Front Gate during Zoo hours, by phone at (585) 336-7212 or online. The lucky member family can active or renew their Zoo membership by simply redeeming the certificate. Give the gift of a Zoo this holiday season — it’s the gift that provides support for your local Zoo and year-round family fun!

A popular activity, Book and Beast, is a member favorite. Join us at 11 a.m. each Wednesday (October through March) in the Z.O.T. Zone for a cuddly story and meet an animal from our education collection. This program is free with Zoo admission! Members shouldn’t delay registering for Breakfast with Santa. Sessions in December are filling up very quickly. Kids will enjoy a continental breakfast in a unique setting, meet with Santa and visit our fascinating creatures. And last, but not least, a cold weather day is a great time to experience a brisk walk through the Zoo; stop for hot chocolate at the Café and witness how active our animals can be as they explore the Zoo’s winter smells and sounds.

Enjoy the winter activities, programs, events and the changing seasons with your family and friends at the Seneca Park Zoo. Please pay special attention to our off season hours, rates and specials. And happy holidays!

The Seneca Park Zoo is the natural place to be! The Zoo opens at 10 a.m., and during our winter hours gates close at 3 p.m.; if on grounds, you may stay until 4 p.m. Bring guests and they will enjoy discounted winter admission rates, too.

Don’t forget that the Zoo is a wonderful activity for your family while kids are on break from school. Enjoy a beautiful mid-winter stroll and visit with our fascinating animals.

Remember to bring the membership gift certificate you received as a holiday gift with you on your next visit, or redeem it by mail today. Zoo memberships are valid for one full year from date of activation – it “pays” to be a Zoo member! Receive your permanent cards and be ready to visit on breaks now, this spring and later for the summer season. Starting April 1st through October 31st members may enter the Zoo at 9:30 am; that’s 30 minutes before non-members! Membership includes a variety of other benefits like Member Express Check-In, discounts at Eagle’s Landing Café or ZooShop, as well as discounts on Zoo classes and camps.

If a “travel-cation” is your preference during the February Winter Break, join the Zoo, redeem your gift certificate (or renew your current membership) today and take advantage of our reciprocal agreements. You’ll receive free or discounted admission at more than 170 other zoos and aquariums in North America.

Don’t be left out in the cold this winter! Visit the Zoo in February with friends and family, register for ZooCamp or take advantage of discounts at other facilities across the nation. You’ll be happy you did.
