As a reminder, the Zoo will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The Zoo’s animals will continue to be cared for and we will reopen to the public at 10 a.m. the days following (on December 26 and January 2). This is also a reminder that we are open all year long! During our winter season, the gates close at 3 p.m., but visitors may stay on grounds till 4 p.m. Don’t forget that the Zoo is a wonderful activity for the whole family while children are on school break between Christmas and the New Year.
It’s also not too late to get last minute gifts for family and friends. Give the gift of a Zoo membership when you purchase a gift certificate. Act now and receive our holiday special of $10 off. This special ends December 31, so don’t delay. Our memberships are valid for one full year from date of activation and it “pays” to be a Zoo member. Enjoy special incentives and perks depending on the level of membership. Zoo members may enter the Zoo at 9:30 a.m. starting April 1, will receive 10% off every day in the ZooShop, can enjoy discounts or exclusivity to special events (like ZooBoo or Breakfast with Santa) and receive much more!
Don’t forget our popular story hour and visit with an animal each week during the winter season. “Book and Beast” is held October through March at 11 a.m. every Wednesday in the Z.O.T. Zone. Since it is free with Zoo admission, free access to this fun Zoo activity can be added to our long list of member benefits!
Bundle up the kids, grab a hot chocolate at our Crater Canteen (located in A Step Into Africa), and visit all of your animal friends at the Zoo. Winter weather allows some of our animals to be more active and curious about winter smells and sounds!
As always, from our Zoo family to yours, we wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
